Car free day at Old Town is denied
The planning of West Jakarta Administration to implement car free day at Old Town should be denied. It is because the air pollution meter owned by West Jakarta Local Environment Management Board (BPLHD) is owed by the Indonesia Ministry of Environment.
Rusman Sagala, the head of board, said that car free day could be implemented on next November 2008 after the tools is returned. “We’ve only one tool,” he said, Monday (21/7).
According to him, the car free day in West Jakarta will be implemented at Old Town area starting from Stasiun Kota Transjakarta shelter-Jl Kunir-Jl Poskota0-Jl Bank-Kalibesar-Beos.
Those areas are including on the highest traffic line. The traffic light meter counts 300 seconds, while normally is 60 to 100 seconds. “We must make coordination with West Jakarta Sub-Dept. of Transportation and police department,” he added. [Berita Jakarta/Purwoko]
